Updates 8/22/22- We currently do not require you to wear a mask to your appointment. You are always able to wear and request our staff wear masks while you visit. We reserve the right to reinstate a mask policy as needed.

There is so much on social media buzzing around about masks, it's really hard to know where to start here.

There is a LOT of information, opinions, and high emotions being thrown at us from all directions. Stress levels are high and if you are feeling anything like me, you are overloaded, a tad confused, and maybe even longing a bit for a simpler time.

Raise your hand with me if you are definitely in need of massage more than ever ! 🙋‍♀️

We have gotten a lot of questions about masks and what that means for you and your therapist during your massage.

Let's start at the beginning:

  • Yes! According to the NYS guidelines you must be wearing a mask while in the studio, including during your intake and massage.

  • Yes! Your therapist and our receptionist must also be wearing a mask. You may remove your mask while lying face down with your head in the face cradle. You can choose to hold it or hand it to your therapist to be placed by your things.

  • So far clients have preferred to start face up with the mask on and end face down without the mask.

  • Your massage therapist will wear the mask during your entire session as well.

  • We switch to a new mask with each client.

  • We do have disposable masks you can use, should you soil, break, or had forgotten one.

  • If you have a medical condition preventing your from wearing a mask, you do not have to wear the mask and we are not allowed by law to ask you why. However, we do ask that you alert us prior to your appointment so that we can take any extra precautions necessary for our staff and other clients.

What is it like to get a massage with a mask on?

  • We have been asking clients how they feel about the masks during massage. While all the clients shared that they would rather go without the mask, every single person reported feeling more comfortable than anticipated or perfectly comfortable during the massage.

  • At worst, they have reported it being a minor annoyance.

  • Most clients including, us are totally bummed that we cannot do face massage. We will keep you updated about this.

  • At any point in time, if you need a moment without the mask, just let us know and we can step 6 feet away so you can adjust and get comfortable again.

  • If you are really struggling we have to alternative face coverings that may be helpful for you.

  • For a few clients we have done some great mini meditations at the beginning of the session. We focus on breath as it feels in our body, the rise and fall of our bellies and the expansion and contraction of our lungs vs focusing on the in and out of our breath. This has been incredibly helpful.

What does your therapist think about wearing a mask?

  • While it is definitely not ideal, they are a bit easier to wear now than the first few days practicing massage with them on. You kind of get used to them.

  • We change them with every client, so they are clean and fit well.

  • We would absolutely rather go without, but YOU ARE IMPORTANT TO US! We wear the masks to help prevent the spread of the virus. We care about you, we care about your family, and we care about each other. So we will gladly follow all orders to make sure we are doing absolutely everything we can do in our power to keep us all healthy.

We totally understand that the world feels heavy right now, and there are lots of feelings about what is going on. It is truly our goal to make sure that coming to the studio allows you a bit of an escape, a respite, a Sanctuary to come and heal, and feel connected to your body again. If we can help relieve pain along the way, even better. We are so completely in awe of the patience and kindness our clients have shown and know more than ever how thankful we are to be in the place working with you. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for the support and getting to be a tiny part of your lives!
